Maine DEP offers recycling and organics management grant opportunities
AUGUSTA, June 20, 2018 —
The Maine Department of Environmental Protection is soliciting grant proposals to support organics management and recycling initiatives. Two different types of proposals are being sought: 1) pilot projects in organics collection and management, and 2) investments in infrastructure and programs to support on-going recycling and organics management initiatives. Municipalities, schools, hospitals and restaurants are encouraged to apply for grants of up to $4,000 to fund pilot programs to collect, store and transport food scraps for composting or anaerobic digestion. These programs must include a data collection and reporting component. No cost sharing is required of applicants for these grants.
Both public and private sector entities may apply for grants up to $30,000 for recycling and organics management projects. Preference will be given to projects that serve a regional need.
Application details are available on-line at Request for Proposals, Maine DEP (www.maine.gov/dep/rfp). Questions on the RFP must be submitted by Tuesday, July 31, 2018 and proposals must be submitted electronically by 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2018.
