DEC Encourages EJ Groups to Apply for EPA Environmental Justice Small Grants
DEC encourages eligible organizations to apply for EPA’s Environmental Justice Small Grants (EJSG) program. EPA is offering $1.5 million for one-year projects that address emergency preparedness and increase resiliency in communities with a higher concentration of underserved and vulnerable populations. EPA anticipates awarding approximately 50 grants (five per EPA region) of up to $30,000 each.
Full proposals are due Friday, February 15, 2019 by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time.
The EJSG program supports community-driven projects designed to engage, educate and empower communities to better understand local environmental and public health issues and develop strategies for addressing those issues, building consensus in the community, and setting community priorities.
Eligible organizations include:
- incorporated non-profit organizations -including, but not limited to, environmental justice networks, faith based organizations and those affiliated with religious institutions
- federally recognized tribal governments-including Alaska Native Villages; OR
- tribal organizations.
EPA encourages organizations that are not eligible to partner with eligible entities on an EJSG project. Please see the RFP for additional information.
